Step 1 — The Coder Wave (2027–2035). It opens with the AI Crash of the late 2020s: data-centre spending outruns AI revenues, the investment bubble bursts, and a financial crisis follows. AI keeps automating most software and much AI research anyway. Capability jumps sharply, then hits the compute and power ceiling: new data centres cannot be built fast enough in a heating, insurance-starved world.
