By 2497 about a fifth of Vesta’s water comes from the Hildas, and that share continues to grow. The Republic’s hold over its water supply is weakening. Its fusion-fuel deliveries remain a separate dependency, cushioned by Vesta’s larger reserve and the supply agreement.
